Bettendorf Shines in Strong Women's Nordic Performance at Gitchi Gami Games

CABLE, Wis. -- The College of St. Scholastica women's Nordic ski team turned in a strong showing at the Gitchi Gami Games in Cable, Wisconsin, competing against a deep and highly competitive field in both the 10-kilometer distance race and the sprint events.

In the women's 10K, the Saints were led by Della Bettendorf (Proctor, MN/Proctor HS), who finished as the top St. Scholastica skier with a 12th-place overall result, crossing the line in 31:13.8. Bettendorf skied consistently throughout the race and remained competitive with several Division I and nationally recognized club athletes. Sophia Bertonneau (Leadville, CO/) followed closely behind, placing 25th overall with a time of 32:24.2, while Madeline Gray posted a solid performance to finish 50th in a large field. Kaia Osmund (Chisago Lakes, MN/Chisago Lakes HS)son rounded out the Saints' finishers in the event, gaining valuable race experience on the demanding Cable course.

St. Scholastica also made an impact in the sprint races, highlighted by Bettendorf once again. The sophomore advanced through the heats and earned a third-place finish in her quarterfinal, clocking a time of 3:52.00 and finishing among strong collegiate competition. Her performance marked one of the Saints' best sprint results of the weekend and showcased her versatility across race formats.

As a combined team (men's and women's), the Saints finished second behind UW-Green Bay. Full results are below:
