Women's Nordic Skiing Finishes Third at CCSA Championships

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The College of St. Scholastica women's nordic ski team placed third at the CCSA Conference Championships with 65 team points over the two-day meet.

Northern Michigan won the team title with 105 points, followed by Michigan Tech with 100. UW-Green Bay finished fourth with 45.

10K Classic Mass Start

In Saturday's classic race, Della Bettendorf (Proctor, MN/Proctor HS) finished third among CCSA skiers, trailing only two Northern Michigan athletes. Her time of 30:49.7 placed her firmly on the conference podium for the event.

Belle Spets () placed 11th among CCSA competitors, while Sophia Bertonneau (Leadville, CO/) finished 13th in the conference field.

Additional CCSA finishes for the Saints included:

St. Scholastica placed three skiers inside the top 15 of the CCSA field in the classic race.

10K Freestyle Individual Start

On Sunday in the freestyle event, Bettendorf again led the Saints, finishing eighth among CCSA skiers.

Lily Schaeffer (Brainard, MN/Brainard HS) turned in a strong performance to place 15th in the conference, just ahead of Belle Spets (), who was 16th.

Regional Outlook

Following the championships, Bettendorf currently sits second in the CCSA Regional Qualifying Points standings. The top six skiers qualify for NCAA Regionals. While her position is not yet mathematically secured, she remains well inside the qualifying window heading into the final phase of selection.
