SAINT PAUL, Minn. – St. Scholastica picked up another conference victory on Saturday night, defeating Hamline 3–1 (25–15, 26–24, 21–25, 25–19) at Hutton Fieldhouse. The win brings the Saints to 14–12 overall and 5–5 in MIAC play.
The Saints came out sharp and in control from the start, rolling to a 25–15 opening-set win. St. Scholastica fought off a late Hamline rally in the second to take a 2–0 lead before the Pipers answered in the third. The Saints responded with poise in the fourth, finishing the match strong to secure the road victory.
Ava Swangstue (Grand Forks, N.D./Red River HS) led the attack with 15 kills, while Lilli Rechichi (Ely, MN/Ely Memorial HS) and Ava Decker (Rochester, MN/Century HS) added 11 and 10, respectively. Setter Natalie Yackley (New Ulm, MN/New Ulm HS) directed the offense with 45 assists and added nine digs. Defensively, libero Lauren Kahl (Ridgeland, WI/Prairie Farm HS) anchored the back row with 19 digs, and Cassidy Lustig (Ashland, WI/Ashland HS) contributed 16. The Saints also tallied eight service aces, highlighted by four from Bryn Ziegler (Hutchinson, MN/Hutchinson HS).
St. Scholastica will return home next weekend to host St. Olaf on Saturday, November 8 at 6 p.m. for Senior Night.
