DULUTH, Minn. - The College of St. Scholastica volleyball team put together a strong all-around performance Tuesday night, sweeping Wisconsin-Superior 3-0 (25-50, 25-13, 25-17) inside Reif Gymnasium.
The Saints hit an efficient .184 as a team and controlled the match from start to finish, improving to 12-11 overall.
Ava Swangstue (Grand Forks, N.D./Red River HS) led the offense with 10 kills on an impressive .391 hitting percentage, while
Lindsey Baribeau (Biwabik, MN/Mesabi East HS) added eight kills and two service aces.
Abby Zins (Chisago Lakes, MN/Chisago Lakes High School) and
Lilli Rechichi (Ely, MN/Ely Memorial HS) chipped in six kills apiece, with Zins hitting a match-best .400.
Setter
Natalie Yackley (New Ulm, MN/New Ulm HS) guided the attack with 29 assists and added four digs, while
Lauren Kahl (Ridgeland, WI/Prairie Farm HS) anchored the back row with a team-high 11 digs and an ace. Defensively,
Cassidy Lustig (Ashland, WI/Ashland HS) tallied eight digs and an ace of her own, and
Ava Decker (Rochester, MN/Century HS) contributed five digs.
The Saints' serving was sharp with only two errors on 74 attempts, while the defense held the Yellowjackets to a .110 hitting percentage and just one service ace across three sets.
St. Scholastica returns to action on Friday, October 24th when they travel to Moorhead, Minnesota to take on Concordia in a MIAC match. That game starts at 7pm.
