How it Happened
1st Half
Off the kickoff, the Saints came out strong and ready to play. Both teams started with immense energy, despite the majority of the half being in the Saints' zone.

The Falcons brought the intensity with a high pass over the heads of Scholastica players but were soon stopped by Abby Shrode. The Falcons bounced back with the first shot of the game.

Junior forward Kaitlyn Sautter (Princeton, Minn./Princeton HS) produced a powerful shot off of a free kick at 15:04 but was shut down by the Falcons goalkeeper. The first half was riddled with shot attempts from both sides, as the Saints tallied 10 and the Falcons had 17. Neither team found success in the back of the net.

2nd Half

The final 45 minutes started with dominant play from the Falcons, taking the first on-target shot of the half. The Saints were relentless in their efforts to take the lead, with nail-biter attempts from Lily Rippie and Julia Lewis

At the 48-minute mark, the Falcons pressured the Saints with two shots in under a minute. These drives were followed close behind by the lone goal of the game at 50:14, courtesy of Aliviah McClinton. 1-0 Falcons.

The Falcons took control of the remaining portion of the game, shutting down nearly all of the Saints attempts to tie it up. Tenley Voth (Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS), the leading scorer from the 2023 season, made a push to equalize the score, but her top-shelf attempt was stopped by the goalkeeper off of the tip of her fingers.

As the clock continued to barrel toward the 90-minute mark, both teams made a large number of substitutions to try to change the pace. But the score remained the same, as it ended in a 0-1 Loss for the Border Battle Chalice.

Words from Coach Reyelts

"There were some good things on the day, definitely some work to do, but a way to finish. And we just need to work on those faults and build off of the positive moments from the game today."
