Volleyball Opens Season With Trip to Iowa to Participate in the Grinnell/Central Invitational

Duluth, Minn. – The Saint Scholastica volleyball team will travel to Pella, IA. to participate in the Central/Grinnell Invitational on August 30, 2024. The Saints will play doubleheaders on both days of the tournament. The team will open up game one against Bethany Lutheran College at 4 p.m. CT. Game two will commence at 8 p.m. CT. against Central College. On day two, Sat. August 31, 2024. Day two will open with Grinnell College at 10 a.m. The Saints will round the tournament out with Simpson College at 12 p.m.

Coming off a competitive season, the Saints look toward a strong start, as they will compete in four non-conference games in the Central/Grinnell Invite. Head Coach Chelsea Meierotto will lead the team in her second year with St. Scholastica, bringing in 11 freshmen to add talent and bolster our team in the MIAC.

Saints to Watch
Junior Lindsey Baribeau (Biwabik, Minn./Mesabi East HS) was named All-MIAC Honorable mention in the 2023 season. She appeared in 59 sets, and led the team in kills with 144. When the season came to a close, she finished with a staggering 171.5 points for the Saints. 

Notes on the Opponents 
Bethany Lutheran College had an overall record of 8-18 and a conference record of 5-9. In our last matchup with the Vikings we fell 3-0 in the Stinger Classic. The Saints hope to redeem themselves in their season opener against the Vikings. 

Central College finished the 2023 season with an overall record of 22-10, and a conference record of 4-4. This will be the first time the Saints meet the Dutch on the court. 

Grinnell College ended the postseason with an overall record of 13-17, and a conference record of 5-3. In our last meeting, the Saints defeated Grinell 3-1 at the Loras Tournament. The Saints hope to maintain their excellence and seize another victory. 

Simpson College rounded out the season with an overall record of 10-21 and 4-4 in their conference. In the Saints' last meeting with Simpson, we were defeated 3-1. The Saints will close out the tournament against Simpson and hope to end on a win.
