SAINT JOSEPH, Minn. – The Saint Scholastica Softball team traveled to Saint Joseph to play the Bennies of the College of Saint Benedict in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) doubleheader. The Saints were supposed to play in Duluth, but the doubleheader was flipped to St. Ben's.

Before the game, the team honored their five seniors, Grace Hadlich (Stillwater, Minn./Mahtomedi HS), Kari Breuer (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS), Haley Rosenthal (Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi HS), Danielle Erickson (International Falls, Minn./Littlefork-Big Falls HS), and Aislind Dail (Sumner, Wash./Sumner HS).

Game One, CSS 0, CSB 4
Game one was a tough one for the Saints. They would register one hit in this contest, coming from the bat of Samantha Paniagua (Corona, Calif./Centennial HS), as she singled in the bottom of the second. The Bennies would score their first run in the first inning, followed by three run home run in the third.

The Saints pitching staff would hold their foes to five scoreless innings, but the four runs would be enough for the Bennies to claim the 4-0 win.

Game Two, CSS 2, CSB
Both teams would start their scoring in the third, with the Saints and Bennies both scoring one run in the inning. The Saints would begin the bottom of the third inning with a single to shortstop that would give Lauren Laviano (Maplewood, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) first base.

Dail would be walked, and Bussey would pinch-run for Laviano. Bolin would then hit a single, loading the bases for the Saints. Breuer would also hit a single to right field, allowing Bussey to take it home for the Saints' first run. The Saints would follow that up by taking two more strikes, ending the inning with the game tied 1-1.

The Saints defense would continue to stay strong for the remaining innings. But when the time came to take the win, the Saints batting roster would pull through, scoring one final run in the bottom of the seventh.

The bottom of the seventh would start with a quick strikeout, followed by a single by Lang to center field. The Saints would take another out, bringing them to two outs.

Dail would swing at the right moment and hit a double to left field, advancing Lang to third. Following that Bolin would be walked,  once again loading the bases for the Saints. Breuer would be up to bat, and as luck would have it, she would get hit by a pitch, bringing Payton Lang (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) in to register a run, and winning the game for the Saints.
