Women's Tennis Drop First Match of Florida

Orlando, Fla. - The College of St. Scholastica women's tennis team opened their spring break trip at USTA National Campus against Concordia Wisconsin. The Saints would be no match for the Falcons as they captured the 7-2 win. The Falcons are now an impressive 15-3, while the Saints drop to 6-4.

Doubles
The Falcons would claim all three matches, and the No. 3 pairing of Maya Nibbe (Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) and Anna Ritchie (Becker, Minn./Becker HS) would be narrowly defeated 8-6.

Singles
Martina Garcia (Cuenca, Ecuador/Catalinas HS (Eastern Florida State College)) was in the No. 1 spot today and faced a tough challenge as she went up against Ricki Budewitz, the 39th-ranked player in the nation. Garcia would see a 6-1, 6-1 loss. 

Claiming the two wins for the Saints would be the twin sister duo of Katia Bartels (St. Paul, Minn./Mounds View HS) and Elena Bartels (St. Paul, Minn./Mounds View HS).

Katia won in her No. 4 match, with a final score of 7-5, 6-0.

Elena had to work for her win in the final spot for St. Scholastica, her opponent would claim the first set, 7-6 (10-8) in the tiebreaker, but Bartels managed to comeback with a 6-1 win in the second and a 1-0 (10-7) superbreaker win.
