Softball Shutout Twice by No. 23 Pointers

Notables
- Hadlcih records two hits in game two
- Laviano hits fifth double of the year
- Saints record three stolen bases in game two

RHINELANDER, Wis.  – The St. Scholastica softball team headed to Rhinelander, Wisconsin to play two nonconference games against No. 23 University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. The two games were originally scheduled for Saturday but were moved up and switched to the Hodag Dome.

Game 1, CSS 0, UWSP 3
The Saints would fall in their first contest as Stevens Point scored two runs in the second inning and added another run in the third. The Pointers pitching staff was able to throw a no-hitter as the Saints only got on base from a walk and a hit-by-pitch in the first game.

Haley Rosenthal (Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) got the start in the circle and was able to strike out five batters and only allowed three runs on seven hits.

Game 2, CSS 0, USWP 3
The Saints would start on the right foot, when Lauren Laviano (Maplewood, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) recorded a double to record the first hit, and then on a full count Grace Hadlich (Stillwater, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) would single to center, but Laviano would be held up at third. Hadlich would steal second, but a Saints strikeout would end the first at-bat for St. Scholastica.

The top of third saw Emma Bolin (Litchfield Park, Ariz./Millennium HS) single but would be out at second on the next play as Kari Breuer (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) would reach base on a fielder's choice. Again, the Saints would strike out to end the inning.

The Pointers would be the first team to score in game two as they'd lead off in the bottom of the fourth with a home run to take the 1-0 advantage as the Saints headed into the fifth inning. Breuer would single, but she would eventually be left on base. The foes started to heat up in the fifth as they scored three runs.

The Saints wouldn't be able to connect in the sixth and final innings as they fell 4-0 in game two.
