-Laviano went 3-4 with two RBI in game two
-Hadlich hits triple in game two
-Dail records two doubles

LEESBURG, Fla. – The St. Scholastica softball team played in two contests this morning and early afternoon at the Sleepy Hollow Park complex. The Saints would drop their opener 13-2 against Occidental before losing to a walk off run to Mitchell College 4-3.

CSS 2, OCC 13
The Tigers would waste no time putting runs on the board to start the contest, fortunately, they allowed only the Tigers to score twice before they retired the final batter with three runners on base.

Although the Saints could find their own rhythm in the first inning, Emma Bolin (Litchfield Park, Ariz./Millennium HS) led off with a single, and Aislind Dail (Sumner, Wash./Sumner HS) followed with a double, allowing Bolin to score. After three more outs, the score was 2-1.

In the bottom of the third and back to the start of the batting order, Bollin again reached base as a pitch hit her. After an out, Bolin would steal second and Grace Hadlich (Stillwater, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) doubled to right field, and the game was now tied at 2-2.

Occidental would retake the lead in the top of the fourth as they managed to score four runs and added another run in the next at bat to make the game now 7-2. The Saints wouldn't be able to get any scoring put together as again the Tigers had another 6 runs in the top of the 7th.

With one more chance to bat, Aryn Blumenthal (Linwood, Minn./Forest Lake HS) would be hit by a pitch, but it was followed by two more outs as the Saints saw defeat.

CSS 3, MIT 4
The Saints would again start hot, with Lauren Laviano (Maplewood, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) recording a single to left field after Dail was walked. With a fielder's choice on the next play, the Saints had two runners on and Hadlich stepped up and delivered a huge triple, allowing her team to take the early 2-0 lead.

Mitchell would answer with one run of their own in the first. Two teams would battle back and forth, but see no more runs until the fifth inning where Dail smoked the ball to left field for a double. With zero outs and Dail on base, Laviano wanted a double of her own and did just that, bringing Dail in as Saints increased their lead by two.

Bantams of Mitchell recorded a two-run double in the bottom half of the frame to knot the score at 3-3. The Saints wouldn't get anything going in the sixth or seventh but was able to keep this game tied. The first two batters would be walked, but then Senior Hailey Rosenthal struck out the next two batters.

With two outs, a wild pitch would allow the runners to move onto the base and have a better chance at a scoring opportunity. As the last batter hit a ground ball, the Saints would have a costly mistake with an error and this allowed Mitchell to secure the walk off win.

Up Next
The Saints will get the day off tomorrow, before playing two more games on Friday to wrap up their spring break trip.
