VIRGINIA, Minn. - The St. Scholastica women's tennis team played their second match of the weekend, this time they were at the Virginia Indoor Tennis & Pickleball Club on Saturday afternoon. The Saints would again sweep their opponents of Concordia College, 9-0.
Doubles
The No. 1 pairing of
Julia Maier (Hamburg, Germany/Heidberg Gymnasium) and
Anna Ritchie (Becker, Minn./Becker HS) and the No. 2 pairing of
Mishell Benitez (Ambato, Ecuador/Colegio Tecnico Particular a Distancia José Martí) and
Martina Garcia (Cuenca, Ecuador/Catalinas HS (Eastern Florida State College)) both defeated the Cobbers by a score of 8-6.
The last pairing of Katia Bartles and
Maya Nibbe (Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) took care of business in their match, winning 8-4.
Singles
Maier would win her singles match atop of the lineup, 6-2, 6-3. Benitez will have the same results in her No. 3 singles match.
In the No. 2 spot, Garica took the match with scores of 6-1 and 6-4.
Maria Sosa (Mazatenango, Guatemala) would go into extra sets but came on top 10-6.
Bartles played in the fifth spot, where she saw a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
Rounding out the scores for the Saints was
Eva Kangas (Grand Rapids, Minn./Minnesota Virtual Academy – Grand Rapids HS), who beat her opponent 6-1 in the first set and 7-5 in the second set.
