Women’s Basketball Caps Off Senior Day With Commanding Win Over St. Olaf

DULUTH, Minn. – On a day celebrating the seniors on the St. Scholastica women's basketball team, the Saints were able to come away with a commanding 65-47 victory over the Oles from St. Olaf. The Saints took a five-point lead heading into the second half, and behind a big fourth quarter, were able to come away with an eighteen point victory. 

How it Happened
After the Oles jumped out to an early 7-0 lead, the Saints got the game started with a three-pointer by Lexi Imdieke (Andover, Minn./Andover HS) and jumpers from Kloey Lind (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) and Imdieke, tying the game at 9-9. 

CSS went on a 5-0 run to end the opening quarter, with Jackie Johnson (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS) scoring from beyond-the-arc and Lind getting a layup to fall, leading 14-9 after one quarter. 

Gabby Voigt (St. Michael. Minn./St. Michael- Albertville HS) and Katie Vaske (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS (Hamline University)) scored the first field goals for the Saints in the second quarter, with the duo both getting jumpers to fall. 

Megan Hurley (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) showed her persistence moments later, grabbing two offensive rebounds before scoring herself on a jumper, as CSS led 24-16. 

Johnson scored the last field goal of the half for the Saints, converting a three-pointer, as the Saints led by five at halftime. 

After Lind scored the first field goal of the second half for St. Scholastica, Hope Carlson (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) converted a three-pointer to put the Saints up nine. 

Jumping to the fourth quarter, Vaske got a three-pointer to fall, while Voigt scored on a fastbreak layup after recording a steal in the full court press. 

After a Lind layup, Imdieke would hit a three-pointer to put the Saints up 56-42, which gave the Saints an opportunity to show its seniors some love. 

Liz Frase (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS (Concordia-Moorhead)) would score minutes later, and to cap off the afternoon, Ashley Faur (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) would score the final field goal for the Saints on a three-pointer, as the Saints celebrated senior day with a 65-47 victory over St. Olaf this afternoon.

The Saints (10-12, 7-11) will be back in action on Wednesday, where they will travel to St. Paul to take on the Pipers from Hamline. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
