Men's Hockey Secures Game Two Against MSOE with OT Win

Milwaukee, WI. – The St. Scholastica Men's Hockey team emerged victorious tonight in a thrilling showdown against the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), keeping fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle. The Saints ultimately clinched a 3-2 win in overtime, showcasing grit and skill in a game that highlighted the strengths of both teams.

How It Happened:

From the opening faceoff, both teams displayed impressive offense and defense. The first period saw the Raiders gaining an early advantage. At 16:05, MSOE's solid offensive push led to the night's first goal, putting them ahead 1-0 and challenging the Saints to respond.

The Saints brought renewed intensity in the second period, determined to even the score. Midway through, their efforts paid off when Brodie Girod (Clavet, SK, Canada/Clavet HS) broke through MSOE's defense and netted a goal at 14:51, assisted by Jacob Seitz (Mountain Iron, Minn./Virginia HS) and Hunter Hanson (Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS). This tied the game at 1-1 and set the stage for an intense third period.

Entering the third period, the Saints wasted no time, scoring almost immediately at just 00:25 when Tristan Shewchuk (Saskatoon, SK, Canada/St. Joseph HS) found the back of the net with an assist from Evan Pahos (Parker, CO), giving St. Scholastica a 2-1 lead.

But MSOE wasn't finished. The Raiders fought back, and at 8:26, they capitalized on a break in the Saints' defense, scoring to tie the game 2-2. Both teams pushed hard for the winning goal as regulation time wound down, with each side delivering near-miss shots.

The Saints' power play opportunities were crucial in keeping their momentum alive, but despite their efforts, neither team could pull ahead, pushing the game into overtime.

In overtime, St. Scholastica displayed fierce determination, battling MSOE in every inch of the ice. With only 1:12 elapsed in the extra period, Hunter Hanson (Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) seized a chance and scored the game-winning goal with an assist from Wyatt Wurst (Edina, MN). The Saints secured their hard-fought 3-2 victory.
