Minneapolis, MN. - The St. Scholastica Men's Ice Hockey team brought home the win tonight against Augsburg University with a score of 4-3. The Saints held a 4-1 lead going into the third period and the push from the Auggies in the third period was not enough to recover from the Saints dominating offense.
How it Happened
1st Period
- The Saints outshot the Auggies 15-6.
- Despite a scoreless first period,
Wyatt Wurst (Edina, MN) had six shot attempts and two shots on goal.
- Augsburg tallied nine blocks on the 33 shot attempts from the Saints.

Braden Panzer (Grand Forks, ND) won four out of his five face offs, and three of the successful face offs resulted in on-target shots from the Saints.
2nd Period
- An energy-packed second period resulted in a 4-1 lead for the Saints

Tristan Shewchuk (Saskatoon, SK, Canada/St. Joseph HS) scored the first goal of the game just 35 seconds into the period, with assists from
Jacob Seitz (Mountain Iron, Minn./Virginia HS) and W. Wurst.
- The Auggies retaliated with a goal just over a minute later.

Evan Pahos (Parker, CO), Panzer and
Kieran Chung (Nottingham, Great Britain) also scored for the Saints.
- W. Wurst and Chung were both +4 on the stat sheet.
- The Saints outshot the Auggies again 16-10.
3rd Period
- The Auggies took the second period but not the game, as the Saints still won 4-3 enough though the Auggies scored twice.
- CSS only tallied one shot on goal, which came from
Riley Girod (Calvet, SK, Canada).
