How it Happened
Jackie Johnson (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS) got the first basket for St. Scholastica on a three-pointer that tied the game at 3-3 in the opening minute of the first quarter.

Later in the quarter, Hope Carlson (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) kickstarted her night with a three-pointer of her own to give CSS a one-point lead. Two possessions later, Katie Vaske (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS (Hamline University)) also hit a shot from beyond-the-arc, as the Saints led 9-7.

Kloey Lind (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) would score a pair of layups that helped give CSS a four-point cushion near the end of the quarter, followed by Johnson's second three-pointer closed out the quarter with the Saints leading 18-11.

Carlson got the first field goal for CSS in the second quarter with a layup that helped the Saints hold its slim lead over the Pipers.

After the Saints' lead was trimmed to just one, Carlson scored on a pair of layups to end the half, with St. Scholastica holding a 26-22 lead over Hamline.

Vaske and Lind got the second half started for the Saints offense with Vaske hitting a jumper, and Lind a layup, as St. Scholastica still held a 32-24 lead.

After Lind and Vaske scored once again for the Saints later in the quarter, Gabby Voigt (St. Michael. Minn./St. Michael- Albertville HS) scored on a fastbreak layup in which she created with a steal, bringing the Saints' lead up to seven.

Hannah Compton (Anoka, Minn./Crosby-Ironton HS) scored for her first time of the game with a big three-pointer near the end of the quarter, and after the Pipers tied the game at 41-41, Lind scored the last field goal of the quarter with a layup to give the Saints a two-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.

After a Carlson layup that opened the fourth quarter, the Pipers began a 6-0 run that saw the Saints trail by two. After both teams traded trips to the foul line that resulted in the game being tied at 47-47, jumpers from Compton, Vaske, and Lind gave CSS a 56-55 lead with a little over a minute to play.

While the Pipers were unable to find a way to tie or take the lead, Liz Frase (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS (Concordia-Moorhead)) stepped up to the line in the closing seconds and gave CSS a three-point lead, en route to a 58-55 victory over Hamline.
