BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for basketball on Monday. Student-athletes from Carleton, Hamline, and St. Scholastica claimed the Conference's weekly honors. The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff.
The freshman duo of
Kloey Lind (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) and
Hope Carlson (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) were awarded for their efforts on the court this past week. Both earned their first conference weekly award of their careers and this is the first time the program has swept the offensive and defensive category.
Offensive Player of the Week
Lind averaged 19.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game for the Saints in a pair of non-conference wins last week. In a victory against Northland on 12/12, Lind scored 15 points and grabbed four rebounds in just 14 minutes of action. Against UW-Superior on 12/16, Lind led all scorers with 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting (75.0 percent) and finished with 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season as the Saints captured their third straight win.
Defensive Player of the Week
Hope Carlson (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) logged seven steals and ten rebounds in two Saints victories last week. Carlson tallied five steals and led St. Scholastica with seven rebounds in a victory over Northland on 12/13. Against UW-Superior on 12/16, she had three rebounds, two steals, and scored 10 points off the bench.
