Pipers Defeat Saints Volleyball in Season Finale

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The College of St. Scholastica women's volleyball team played their season finale game against Hamline University Pipers. The Saints would go to one of their longest battles in the first set falling (30-28) and then would surrender their final two sets to the Pipers (15-25, 16-25).

The opening set for the Saints resulted in seven lead changes, down 18-14 in the first Ava Swangstue (Grand Forks, N.D./Red River HS) would connect on back-to-back kills, while a Piper error and a Olivia Bauer (Faribault, Minn./Faribault HS) kill would tie the game up at 18 apiece. The two teams would continue to trade leads, but Hamline closed things out. The two remaining sets would finish the same, having the Saints right in the battle, but slowly the Pipers would be able to take care of business.

Leading the team in kills on the evening was Swangstue with nine, behind her were Lindsey Baribeau (Biwabik, Minn./Mesabi East HS) and Bauer with six each. Baribeau registered four blocks, while Mikala Peterson (Mora, Minn./Mora HS) had two. Setters Grace Myhre (Aberdeen, S.D./Aberdeen Central HS) and Natalie Yackley (New Ulm, Minn./New Ulm HS) managed 16 and 11 assists. First-year Bryn Ziegler (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS) collected 14 digs for the Saints.

End of Season
The Saints end their season with a 3-22 record, 1-10 in MIAC play, they'll say goodbye to their two seniors Delaney Schaeffer (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd HS) and Quinlyn Rubeck (Fall Creek, Wis./Fall Creek HS).
