Women's Hockey Lose Border Battle with Yellowjackets

Notables
- Two Goals from Bussey

SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Saint Scholastica Women's Hockey team traveled to Superior, Wisconsin to play the Yellowjackets. The game did not go in our favor after a well fought effort from the Saints ended in a 3-2 loss.
What Happened
The first period was close through all 20 minutes, both teams shot well and played excellent defense, with the Saints getting six shots on goal and only letting the Yellow Jackets get eight. However this period would not remain scoreless as the Yellow Jackets would score one goal late on the period to gain the one goal lead against the Saints.
The second period would see similar action to the first, great plays from the Saints on both ends of the ice with great scoring opportunities coming out of our offense. The Saints would get 6 scoring opportunities, but failing to score on all of them. The Yellow Jackets would get nine scoring attempts and unfortunately would score again, extending their lead to two.

The final period would see great action on the Saints offense, with Allie Bussey (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) scoring very early to bring the Saints to within one , Hanley Block (Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria HS) and Lauryn Hull (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly HS) had the assists. The Saints would try their best to stop the Yellow Jackets offense, but the Yellow Jackets would go on to score once more, making their lead, once again, two goals.

The Saints would make a tough decision with four minutes left in the third period to pull their goalie giving them a one-skater advantage. Bussey would go on to score her second goal of the game, bringing the Saints to within one once again. The assists were credited to Lisa LaRoche (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka HS) and Sara Parent (Otsego, Minn./Rogers HS). The Saints would keep their goalie on the bench as to try and score once more with the one-skater advantage. Their plan does not succeed as time winds down and the Yellow Jackets take the win.
Goaltending
Makenzie Cole (Cohasset, Minn./Grand Rapids HS) would play all three periods for the saints, facing 24 shots and registering 21 saves.
Rose Beeman would play all three periods for the Yellow Jackets, facing 24 shots and registering 22 saves.
