There is a Storm Brewing

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – As part of its rebrand for the 2022-23 year, The College of St. Scholastica Athletics Department announces the reintroduction of its mascot "Storm".

Storm, the Saint Bernard, represents the determination and fighting spirit of St. Scholastica. The new look Storm is intentionally not aggressive, but determined; not fierce, but focused; not intimidating, but proud; and not vicious, but strong. The new Storm communicates focus, grit and the underdog mentality.

The Saint Bernard image has appeared around the college since the 1980s in many different forms and became a physical mascot, via costume, in the early 2000s and has appeared at community events since that time. A Saint Bernard is a helpful dog, which fits with the Benedictine heritage of the institution.

The name Storm also comes from the Benedictine heritage as the famous story of St. Scholastica successfully praying for a storm to prolong the visit with her brother St. Benedict.

The new Storm mascot completes the Athletics rebrand that will be hitting the court, field, ice and course this upcoming year. See our previous announcements this summer, located HERE.

A big thanks to Out There Advertising during this process and St. Scholastica Athletics can't wait to display the new looks this upcoming year.
