Women’s Tennis has Season End with Loss to Bethel

ROGERS, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team entered Saturday's regular season finale mathematically in play for one of the last two Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) playoff spots. Unfortunately, the Saints would fall to Bethel University 8-1 to see their season come to an end.

Doubles
The Royals (10-9, 6-3 MIAC) swept all three doubles matches. Two of the three doubles matches were decided by tiebreakers, but Bethel was able to prevail.

Singles
For the second straight day, Martina Garcia (Cuenca, Ecuador/Catalinas HS (Eastern Florida State College)) was the lone winner for the Saints on the day, winning at the No. 3 spot by scores of 6-1, 6-2. Garcia finishes the season on a four-match win streak and a team-high 12 wins on the year.

End of Season
The Saints finish their first season in the MIAC with an 8-8 overall record and 4-6 in conference play, just missing the postseason tournament by one spot. The Saints will say goodbye to seniors Madilyn Jankila (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS), Julia Ellefson (Rochester, Minn./John Marshall HS) and Maria Valentini (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS).
