Men’s Tennis Falls to Connecticut College; Women’s Match Suspended

Box Score 1 ORLANDO, Fla. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team fell 8-0 to Connecticut College on Wednesday in wet conditions down in Florida. The women's match had six matches get done before rain suspended play with the Saints trailing 4-2.
 
MEN: Connecticut 8, CSS 0
The Camels (2-1) dominated singles play, winning the five matches that were completed in straight sets. In the three doubles matches, St. Scholastica's (3-5) No. 2 team of Jonas Abeleda (Sydney, Australia/St Aloysius' College) and Alex Daigneault (Agua Dulce, Calif./Hart HS) dropped a tight match 8-6.
 
Women's Match Suspended
The Saints (5-2) got off to a great start winning two of the three doubles matches.
 
The No. 1 team of Julia Maier (Hamburg, Germany/Heidberg Gymnasium) and Madilyn Jankila (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) won their third straight match by an 8-6 decision. The No. 2 team of Martina Garcia (Cuenca, Ecuador/Catalinas HS (Eastern Florida State College)) and Anna Ritchie (Becker, Minn./Becker HS) won by an 8-4 margin.
 
The Camels (0-3) would win at Nos. 3, 4 and 5 spots before rain washed out the rest of the matches. The dual is officially suspended as neither team reached five match wins.
 
Up Next
The Saints will face Springfield College (Mass.) tomorrow (Thursday) to close out action down in Florida.
