SAINT PETER, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica's women's hockey team's final regular season game ended in a 3-0 loss to regular season champion and sixth-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College on Saturday.
How it Happened
The Saints were able to hold the Gusties (19-3-2, 13-1-2 MIAC) to a scoreless first period. Throughout this first period CSS had two power plays. During the four minutes of power play the Saints had three shots on goal, but no luck in scoring.
It was almost nine minutes into the second period before the Gusties made their first goal, taking the lead over the Saints. Their second goal wasn't until there was less than five minutes remaining in the period. Gustavus had two power plays during the second period and it was during their second power play that they were able to make their second goal of the game.
Unfortunately the Saints weren't able to make a comeback in the third period. They were outshot this period 10-3. Gustavus scored their third and final goal of the game with three minutes remaining. The game ended in a 3-0 shutout for Gustavus on their senior night.
The goaltender for the Saints was
Lori Huseby (Babbitt, Minn./Northeast Range HS) and she had 40 saves. Gustavus' goaltender had 13 saves.

CSS (11-9-2, 8-5-2 MIAC) will be the No. 4 seed for the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) playoffs. The Saints will host fifth-seeded Augsburg University next Saturday at Mars Lakeview Arena in the quarterfinal round with the start time yet to be announced.
