Moorhead, Minn. (csssaints.com) – On Friday evening, St. Scholastica's volleyball team defeated Concordia College 3-1.

CSS 3, Concordia 1

After a kill by Caitlin Schneeweis (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Mary)) to start off the set, the Saints continued to gain a 7-2 lead over the Cobbers after a six point run. Two of the six points were from kills by Jessica Remer (Grand Forks, N.D./Sacred Heart HS) and another two points were from kills by Lindsey Baribeau (Biwabik, Minn./Mesabi East HS). CSS continued to maintain a lead over Concordia throughout the entirety of the set eventually taking the set as a whole 25-18.

The second set would be the only set throughout this match where the Saints did not score first. It was a close set as it started off but led to Concordia getting on an eight point hot streak, taking a 16-8 lead over the Saints. Despite their efforts, CSS couldn't come from behind and take the win and instead faced a 25-15 loss.

Schneeweis started off the third set with yet another kill for the Saints. The score remained very tight as both teams had gone back and forth taking the lead. CSS was down 23-20 but had a four point run to take the lead over the Cobbers. It was close but the Saints pulled through and took the set with a 27-25 win.

For the third time tonight, Schneeweis started the set with a kill. For the first part of the set the score remained close between both teams. Eventually the Cobbers had a 20-16 lead but the Saints didn't allow that to last long. St. Scholastica went on to score seven points in a row, with two of the points being kills from Remer, and took a 23-20 lead. The Saints took home the set with a 25-23 win.

Baribeau led the Saints with 21 kills, Remer contributed with 14, and Schneeweis had eight kills for the Saints. Katie Brostrom (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) had 43 assists throughout the match, and Alcia Draper (Williams, Minn./Lake of the Woods HS) recorded her season high of 41 digs for CSS.
