MOORHEAD, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team was outscored 34-4 in points off turnovers on Saturday in a 76-47 loss at Concordia College-Moorhead in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) play.
 
How It Happened
The Cobbers (3-7, 3-5 MIAC) recorded the first four points and never trailed in the contest. Emma Schmidt (Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria HS) drained two early 3-pointers for the Saints, but Concordia had a pair of 6-0 runs in the period to take a 20-15 lead into the second quarter.
 
The Cobbers went on an 8-0 run in the second quarter to extend their lead to 11 as CSS went over five minutes without a field goal. Liz Frase (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS (Concordia-Moorhead)) scored five of the final seven points of the half for the Saints to make the halftime score 34-24 Concordia.
 
Concordia went on another 8-0 run in the third quarter and then finished the game with a 6-0 run to win by a final of 76-47. CSS was outscored 42-23 in the second half as the Cobbers shot 50% from the floor and 9-for-9 from the free throw line.
 
Top Performers
Frase led the Saints with a season-high 14 points. Miranda Broberg (Milaca, Minn./Milaca HS (UW-Superior)) added 10 points. Ashley Faur (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) and Megan Hurley (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) each grabbed seven rebounds to lead the team.
 
Symone Beld led the Cobbers with a game-high 16 points.
 
Up Next
It will be a quick turnaround for the Saints (0-10, 0-8 MIAC) as they will be at Bethel University on Monday. Action is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
