-Final UMAC Men's Soccer Game for St. Scholastica
-Shots: CSS-24, Northland-3
DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – Nolan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) scored his first goal of the spring to give the St. Scholastica men's soccer team a 2-1 overtime victory over Northland College in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Third-Place game on Saturday at Saints Field.
How It Happened
The LumberJacks (4-6-1) took an early lead when Jonah Evans got behind the defense and made it 1-0 in the sixth minute. The Saints responded less than 10 minutes later on an Alex Dodd (Burnsville, Minn./Burnsville HS) goal to make it 1-1. Keegan Chastey (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) had the assist.
The score remained 1-1 after 90 minutes despite CSS having a 14-1 advantage in shots in the second half.
In overtime, Arseno Hamilton (Kingston, Jamaica/St. George College (Trinidad State JC)) found Chastey who passed it over to Friday for the game-winner three minutes and 12 seconds into the extra session to give the Saints the 2-1 victory.
End of Season
The Saints finish the spring campaign with a 6-3-0 record overall. Head Coach Barry Chastey does not expect to lose much as the team transitions to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) in the fall.
