SUPERIOR, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica baseball team scored three unearned runs and scored another off a wild pitch as it defeated the University of Wisconsin-Superior for the second time in the last eight days by a final of 6-1 on Tuesday.

How it Happened
The Yellowjackets (7-9) loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the fourth in the first real offensive threat of the game. However, CSS starter Jack Perala (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) struck out back-to-back batters to get out of the inning. Then with two outs in the fifth, Cody Venske (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) hit a solo home run to right center to give the Saints a 1-0 lead. Bryce Huffman (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) followed with a double and later scored on a UWS error to make it 2-0.

Another Superior error in the sixth inning allowed Mitchell Olson (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie HS) to score to extend the lead to 3-0. Mitchell Novak (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) had a RBI groundout in the seventh to make it 4-0. The Yellowjackets loaded the bases again in the bottom of the seventh, but Grant Taival (Stillwater, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) recorded a struck out to once again end the threat.

Jake Schelonka (Sartell, Minn./Sartell HS) scored on a wild pitch in the eighth and Matt Tautges (Fort Ripley, Minn./Pierz HS) scored on a third UWS error in the ninth to make the final 6-1.
