csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team recorded seven first half goals on its way to an 11-0 victory over Martin Luther College on Saturday in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play.
How It Happened
Elisa Galyen (Duluth, Minn./Two Harbors HS) scored the first goal of the contest in the seventh minute with assists from
Morgan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's HS) and
Mara Roberts (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd HS). Friday made it 2-0 in the 14
th minute heading in a goal from
Kaiya Quam (Oakdale, Minn./Mounds View HS). Only 40 seconds later,
Alexa Ickert (Minnetrista, Minn./Waconia HS) extended the lead to 3-0 with
McKenzie Nelson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) credited with the assist.
Hunter Zamzow (Duluth, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's School) added CSS' fourth goal in the 20
th minute and Nelson scored the fifth goal two minutes later. Friday added her second of the game in the 26
th minute and
Sidney Botker (Mankato, Minn./Loyola Catholic School) scored her first collegiate goal in the 35
th minute, which made the score 7-0.
Friday scored her third goal in the 63
rd minute, while Quam was assisted by Friday in the 67
th minute to make it 9-0. Friday recorded her fourth goal with an assist from Quam in the 70
th minute.
Katelyn Gehling (East Bethel, Minn./St. Francis HS) had the Saints' final goal in the 77
th minute to make the final score 11-0.
Top Performers
Taelynn Gittins (Hugo, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) made five saves for her third straight shutout. Mollie Fischer had 15 saves for the Knights (0-3-0, 0-3-0 UMAC).
Friday finished with 11 points on four goals and three assists. Galyen and Quam each had a goal and two assists.
