Volleyball Cruises Past the Storm

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica volleyball team swept Crown College in just 55 minutes on Saturday by scores of 25-4, 25-18, 25-10.
 
How it Happened
The Saints led 13-1 in the opening set and led by as much as 23-3 before winning 25-4. The four points allowed are the fewest allowed in a set since the 2015 season. CSS had 13 kills with no errors in the opening set.
 
The Storm (0-8, 0-6 UMAC) earned the first point of the second set, before the Saints built an 8-2 lead. CSS led 17-10 before Crown battled back and cut the margin to one on a pair of occasions. However, the Saints won seven of the final eight points to take the second set 25-18.
 
Ashley Larson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) recorded three straight service aces in the third set as St. Scholastica built an 8-2 lead once again. Back-to-back kills by Madissen Burns (Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer HS) gave the Saints the set and the match 25-10.
 
Top Performers
Jessica Remer (Grand Forks, N.D./Sacred Heart HS) led the Saints with 15 kills and 14 digs. Burns added 11 kills and Larson finished with eight kills and four service aces. Katie Brostrom (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) had 34 assists and Alcia Draper (Williams, Minn./Lake of the Woods HS) recorded 13 digs. Quinlyn Rubeck (Fall Creek, Wis./Fall Creek HS) had three service aces.
 
Up Next
The Saints (5-1, 5-1 UMAC) return to the Reif Gymnasium on Thursday to face Northland College. Action is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
