csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team got five goals from five different players and held Concordia University Wisconsin off the scoreboard to win 5-0 Friday night to take game one of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) Slaats Cup Semifinals at Mars Lakeview Arena.
How it Happened
The Falcons were playing even with the Saints for much of the first period until
Allie Bussey (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) put in her own rebound to put the CSS on the board with less than five minutes remaining to make it 1-0 at the first intermission.
Ali Ratzloff (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Lourdes HS) had the assist.
It stayed 1-0 until
Mariah Haedrich (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) found
Abby Pohlkamp (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd HS) on the weakside to extend the St. Scholastica lead to 2-0 after two periods of play.
The Saints opened things up in the third period as
Rachel Anderson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) scored her 11
th goal of the season less than six minutes into period with an assist from
Taylor Thompson (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS).
Ashley Healy (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) extended the margin to 4-0 with seven minutes remaining with Pohlkamp and
Everly Bauck (Silver Bay, Minn./William M. Kelley HS) on the assists.
The final goal of the evening was unassisted off the stick of
Lily Holtz (Austin, Minn./Austin HS) to make the final 5-0.
Goaltending
Lori Huseby (Babbitt, Minn./Northeast Range HS) made 20 saves to earn her second consecutive shutout as she is now 10-0 on the year. Annalina Van Hercke had 31 saves for the Falcons.

The Saints (13-0-0) and Falcons (10-8-0) will play game two of the semifinal series tomorrow (Saturday) at Mars Lakeview Arena beginning at 5 p.m.
If Concordia Wisconsin were to win that game, it would force 20-minute mini-game immediately following to decide who advances to the Slaats Cup Championship series. The Saints only need a tie in game two to advance.
