MINNEAPOLIS (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica volleyball team swept North Central University (Minn.) on Thursday to improve to 2-0 on the spring season.
How it Happened
The Saints controlled the first set with a match-high .382 hitting percentage and cruised to a 25-10 win.
Jessica Remer (Grand Forks, N.D./Sacred Heart HS) had six kills in the set, while
Haley Rohwer (Norwood Young America, Minn./Mayer Lutheran HS) added five kills.
The second set proved to be much tighter until the Saints broke a 6-6 tie with five consecutive points. The Rams (0-3, 0-2 UMAC) got within 23-20, but the Saints took the final two points with
Madissen Burns (Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer HS) giving CSS the set 25-20.
North Central led 2-1 in the third set, which would be their lone lead of the match. St. Scholastica recorded the next five points and then had a 6-0 run later in the set. CSS had a match-high 17 kills in the third set to win and take the match 25-12.
Top Performers
Remer led the Saints for the second straight match with 14 kills. Burns added 10 kills and Rohwer finished with nine kills.
Katie Brostrom (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) had 39 assists and
Alcia Draper (Williams, Minn./Lake of the Woods HS) recorded 19 digs.

The Saints (2-0, 2-0 UMAC) will have their home opener on Saturday against Martin Luther College. Action is slated to begin at 2 p.m. at the Reif Gymnasium.
