DULUTH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team was held to 25% shooting and the University of Northwestern (Minn.) had a 44-14 advantage in the paint as the Eagles spoiled the Saints' home opener by a 68-45 final at the Reif Gymnasium.
How It Happened
For the second game in a row, the Saints scored the first basket of the game by
Liz Frase (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS (Concordia-Moorhead)). That was followed by a
Ramsey Moe (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin HS) 3-pointer and the Saints held an early 5-0 lead. However, the Eagles (8-4, 2-1 UMAC) responded with a 15-0 run over the next three minutes. CSS trailed 22-12 at the end of one period.
The second quarter saw Northwestern outscore the Saints 18-7 and went into halftime with a 40-19 lead. Megan Roberts had 20 of Northwestern's 40 points in the half.
The Saints began the second half with the first four points and outscored the Eagles in the third quarter 14-10. St. Scholastica got the lead down to 14 with seven minutes to go, but that's as close as it would be with Northwestern winning 68-45.

Frase led the Saints with 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Morgan Anderson (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS (UW-Superior)) added eight points.
Roberts finished with 26 points and 15 rebounds for the Eagles
