DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team scored three second period goals en route to a 5-1 victory over Marian University (Wis.) Saturday in the series finale at Mars Lakeview Arena.

How it Happened
The Saints got on the board with 40 seconds left in the opening period on a Arkhip Ledenkov (Polotsk, Belarus/Ostroshitsko-Gorodokskaya (New York Aviators-USPHL)) goal, his team-high seventh of the season to make it 1-0 at the first intermission. Twin brother Filimon Ledenkov (Polotsk, Belarus/Ostroshitsko-Gorodokskaya (New York Aviators-USPHL)) and Tyler Hinterser (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville HS (Brookings-NAHL)) had the assists. CSS outshot the Sabres 16-6 in the first period.

Brent Jones (Hartland, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS (Trine)) scored for the second straight day to give St. Scholastica a 2-0 advantage in the second period. Karl Wight had the assist. Later in the period, on a delayed penalty, Hinterser found the net to make it 3-0. Zack DeBoom (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS (Granite City-NA3HL)) was credited with the assist.

The Sabres (6-6-0, 4-2-0 NCHA) committed another penalty a little while later to give CSS a 5-on-3 advantage, which they capitalized on 14 seconds into that advantage when Jordan Fralich (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall School (Bismarck-NAHL)) netted his third of the season to give the Saints a 4-0 lead after two periods. Sam Fuss (Edina, Minn./Edina HS (Minot-NAHL)) and Nate Pionk (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS (Minot-NAHL)) assisted Fralich's goal.

After Marian avoided the shutout with six minutes left in the third period, A. Ledenkov added his second of the game to make the final score 5-1.

Goaltending
Nick Trenciansky (Vancouver, British Columbia/Holy Cross Regional HS (Kindersley-SJHL)) made 25 saves in the victory, while Colby Muise had 24 saves in the defeat for the Sabres.
