csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica softball team had its second doubleheader sweep in three days at the Dundas Dome on Saturday night, defeating Northland College 6-0 and 11-3.
Game 1: CSS 6, Northland 0
Haley Rosenthal (Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) allowed only one hit to record the shutout in a 6-0 victory to begin the doubleheader.
CSS scored three runs in the third and fifth innings.
Olivia Howe (Scandia, Minn./Forest Lake HS) and
Mara Seurer (New Prague, Minn./New Prague HS) had RBIs in the third, while Howe and
Aislind Dail (Sumner, Wash./Sumner HS) all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the fifth.
Rosenthal struck out six, while walking only one to her second win of the season
The Saints collected 10 hits with
Mara Seurer (New Prague, Minn./New Prague HS) and Howe recording multiple hits and RBIs.
Game 2: CSS 11, Northland 3
Nicole Anders (Port Angeles, Wash./Sequim HS) drove in four on two hits, while Howe struck out a career-high 15 in the pitcher's circle to lead the Saints past Northland 11-3 in the nightcap.
The LumberJills tied the game up at two in the bottom of the third inning. However, CSS took the lead for good with one run in the fourth inning on Dail's sac fly.
The Saints tallied four runs in the sixth inning, all after two outs. Anders and Howe each drove in two runs in the inning.
Howe earned the complete-game victory surrendering seven hits and striking out 15, while walking just one.
The CSS offense had 14 hits in the game. Howe and
Kari Breuer (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) each collected three hits and Breuer also scored three times. Anders drove in runs on a single in the third, a sacrifice fly in the fifth, and a single in the sixth.
