csssaints.com) – After trailing 2-1 after two periods, the St. Scholastica women's hockey team got three consecutive goals from first-year forward
Allie Bussey (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) and tacked on two more goals in the period to win going away by a final of 6-2 over Concordia University Wisconsin in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) action Friday night.
How it Happened
The Falcons took the lead four minutes into the second period, but the Saints tied it midway through the period on a
Rachel Anderson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) goal.
Taylor Murray (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) and
Kayla Kasel (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) had the assists. However, Concordia scored on the power-play with two minutes left in the period to take a 2-1 lead into the second intermission. CSS outshot the Falcons 27-14 in the first two periods.
St. Scholastica tied the contest once again when Bussey scored five minutes into the third period. Kasel had the assist. Less than two minutes later, Bussey scored her second to give the Saints their first lead of the night at 3-2.
Ali Ratzloff (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Lourdes HS) was credited with the assist.
Less than 20 seconds after her second goal, Bussey capped off the natural hat trick to make it 4-2.
Courtney Bloemke (Nicollet, Minn./Mankato West HS) and
Lily Holtz (Austin, Minn./Austin HS) had the assists.
Kasel and
Abby Pohlkamp (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd HS) added insurance goals in the final 10 minutes to make the final score 6-2 after a five-goal third period from the Saints.
Goaltending
Lori Huseby (Babbitt, Minn./Northeast Range HS) finished with 20 saves to improve to 5-0 on the year. Annalina Van Hercke had 37 saves for Concordia.
