DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but Hamline University scored five unanswered, including three goals in the third period to hand the Saints their first Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) loss 5-2 Friday night at Mars Lakeview Arena.

How it Happened
Mariah Haedrich (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) gave the Saints an early lead finding the net just over two minutes into the contest. Lisa LaRoche (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka HS) was credited with an assist. Then four minutes later with the Saints now on a power-play, Taylor Thompson (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) skated in and found the net to make it 2-0. For Thompson that was her 100th career point. Lily Holtz (Austin, Minn./Austin HS) had the assist. The Pipers found the net less than 90 seconds later to make it 2-1 at the first intermission. Hamline had an 18-7 edge in shots in the period.

The Pipers went on the power-play halfway through the second period and found the equalizer with the skater advantage to make it 2-2 at the second intermission.

The third period saw the Saints have a 5-on-3 power-play for 1:15 five minutes into the period, but CSS could not get a puck on goal during the time frame. The Pipers took advantage of the missed opportunity by the Saints by taking their first lead of the night with 10:45 remaining. Hamline added another goal just 14 seconds later to make it 4-2. The Pipers registered their third goal of the period with less than seven minutes remaining to make the final 5-2.

Goaltending
Lori Huseby (Babbitt, Minn./Northeast Range HS) made 33 saves for the Saints, while Mckenna Hulslander had 23 saves for the Pipers.
