STEVENS POINT, Wis. (csssaints.com) – After the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point scored early in the third period to tie the game at 3-3, the St. Scholastica women's hockey team rattled off three goals in the final nine minutes to defeat the Pointers 6-3 Friday night and give Head Coach Julianne Vasichek her first career coaching victory.

How it Happened
With the Pointers up 1-0, Courtney Bloemke (Nicollet, Minn./Mankato West HS) scored back-to-back goals at the end of the first and beginning of the second periods to give the Saints a 2-1 advantage. Both goals were unassisted.

Mariah Haedrich (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) extended the CSS lead to 3-1 midway through the second period with an assist from Allie Bussey (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS). Stevens Point cut the deficit in half at the end of the second period as with a faceoff in its offensive end, the Pointers pulled the netminder and would score with the extra attacker before time expired in the period to make it 3-2 at the second intermission.

The Pointers tied things at 3-3 just 35 seconds into the third period. The Saints responded with a Lauryn Hull (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly HS) goal with 8:17 remaining to make it 4-3 CSS. Less than a minute later Abby Pohlkamp (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd HS) lit the lamp on the power-play with an assist from Rachel Anderson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) to make it 5-3.

Anderson sealed the CSS win in the final minute with an empty-net goal to make the final 6-3.

Goaltending
Lori Huseby (Babbitt, Minn./Northeast Range HS) made 31 saves in the win, while Olivia Schultz had 34 saves for the Pointers.
