MINNEAPOLIS (csssaints.com) - A Friday evening saw the St. Scholastica women's hockey travel to play the Auggies of Augsburg University. Both teams had ups and downs throughout the contest, and after an overtime period and a shootout, the contest ended in a 2-2 tie with the Saints winning 2-1 in the shootout to get the extra conference point.

How it Happened
CSS jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a goal by Lauryn Hull (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly HS) and assisted by Lisa LaRoche (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka HS) and Rachel Anderson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS). It was Lori Huseby (Babbitt, Minn./Northeast Range HS) in the net for the Saints, and she stopped all seven shots in the first period.

The second period saw both teams find the back of the net. The Auggies (1-3-1, 1-1-1 MIAC) tied the contest not even two minutes into the period. Around the halfway point in the period, CSS took back the lead. It was Kayla Kasel (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) scoring on this goal with assists from Ashley Healy (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) and Courtney Bloemke (Nicollet, Minn./Mankato West HS).

After the Saints took a 2-1 lead into the locker room after period two, Augsburg once again tied the game with a goal five minutes and 26 seconds into the period. Neither team scored throughout the remainder of the period.

Overtime saw a highly tense period, both Augsburg and CSS had chances to score and win the game, but great goaltender play from both sides saw this contest end in a 2-2 tie and go to a shootout to decide the extra Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) point.

Taylor Murray (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) scored for the Saints to open the shootout, Huseby and the Saints denied the Auggies' next two attempts. Kasel gave the Saints the shootout win converting her attempt in the final round to give the Saints the extra league point 2-1.

Huseby stopped 32 shots in the contest. Healy recorded her first points of the season with an assist.
