NORTHFIELD, Minn. (csssaints.com) – In its Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) debut, the St. Scholastica women's hockey team blanked St. Olaf College 4-0 Friday night for its third straight victory.

How it Happened
The Saints wasted no time in taking the lead, as Allie Bussey (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) assisted Taylor Thompson (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) for the first goal of the game. CSS was able to find the back of the net a second time in the first period, this time goal was scored by Abby Pohlkamp (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd HS) and assisted by Lauryn Hull (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly HS). In the first period the Saints and the Oles each had one power play. CSS had an 11-7 advantage in shots.

It wasn't until late in the second period that St. Scholastica was able to score their next goal. The third goal for the Saints was scored by Kayla Kasel (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) and assisted by Rachel Anderson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) on the power-play with four minutes remaining in the period. The Saints ended the second period up 3-0.

In the third period, the fourth-and-final goal was scored within the last three minutes of the game by Kasel as she found the empty net.

In goaltender Ashlea Arvidson's (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS) first game of the season she had 13 saves for the Saints to earn her second shutout in her last two starts dating back to last season. St. Olaf's Ivy Shonka had 25 saves.
