csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica volleyball team rolled to a straight sets win over Concordia College-Moorhead Friday night in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) action at the Reif Gymnasium.
How it Happened
In the opening set, off the serve of
Alana Mayry (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS), the Saints strung together 13 consecutive points to take an 18-4 lead. CSS went on to take the first set 25-13.
Haley Rohwer (Norwood Young America, Minn./Mayer Lutheran HS) led the team with four kills in the set.
In the second set, the Cobbers (6-11, 0-4 MIAC) held a 10-6 advantage. St. Scholastica responded with three consecutive kills and eventually tied the set at 11-11. Moments later, CSS recorded three consecutive kills again to take a 15-13 lead. The Saints led 20-16 in the set, before the Cobbers scored six straight points to regain the lead at 22-20.
The biggest rally of the second set came with the score tied 22-22. The long rally ended in a
Delaney Schaeffer (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd HS) kill. After a Mayry service ace, Schaeffer closed the set out with a kill to give the Saints a 25-22 win. Schaeffer led the team with five kills in the set.
Katie Brostrom (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) gave CSS the first six points of the third set off of her serve. The Saints led 14-4 and cruised to a 25-11 set win to take the match in the three sets.

Rohwer and
Jessica Remer (Grand Forks, N.D./Sacred Heart HS) each had 11 kills to lead the team. Schaeffer had a career-high nine kills. Brostrom had 23 assists and
Ellie Greenwaldt (Raymond, Minn./Central Minnesota Christian School) added 17 assists.
Alcia Draper (Williams, Minn./Lake of the Woods HS) led the Saints with 24 digs. Mayry finished with three service aces.
