SAINT PETER, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica volleyball team fell in three sets at 25
th-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College Friday night to conclude its road slate for the season.
How it Happened
The Gusties (23-5, 9-1 MIAC) used a 5-0 run early in the first set and then scored four consecutive points later in the set to take opening set 25-17.
Madissen Burns (Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer HS) had four kills for the Saints in the set.
Gustavus jumped out to a 14-6 lead in the second set and did not trail to take a two-set lead with another 25-17 win. It was Burns again leading the way with four kills.
CSS then scored the first eight points of the third set off the serve of
Caitlin Schneeweis (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Mary)). The Saints led 14-9 when the Gusties proceeded to go on an 8-0 run themselves to take a 17-14 lead. A
Jessica Remer (Grand Forks, N.D./Sacred Heart HS) kill got the Saints within 21-20, but Gustavus recorded the final four points to win the match in three 25-20.
Top Performers
Burns led the way with nine kills. Remer added eight kills.
Katie Brostrom (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) had 13 assists, while
Alcia Draper (Williams, Minn./Lake of the Woods HS) had 12 digs.
