DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – On Senior Night Saturday, the St. Scholastica volleyball team went down in three sets against Augsburg University as the Auggies clinched a MIAC postseason berth.

How it Happened
The Saints were playing catchup throughout the entirety of the first set as they were always two or more points behind Augsburg (15-12, 6-5 MIAC). Jessica Remer (Grand Forks, N.D./Sacred Heart HS) had two service ace's for the Saints in the set.

Despite falling behind Augsburg by 10 points in the second set, the Saints were able to come back and score nine points in a row off the serve of Ellie Greenwaldt (Raymond, Minn./Central Minnesota Christian School) to put them back in it. Although they were able to catch up to the Auggies, they weren't able to gain the lead for a win. Madissen Burns (Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer HS) had three kills in that nine-point rally.

St. Scholastica was able to start off the third set on a high note, scoring the first point. CSS was able to hold their lead up until the score was 11-9, then the Auggies had a seven point rally. After Augsburg pulled ahead, the Saints had a hard time catching up and taking the lead. CSS ended short of the Auggies in a 25-17 final in the third set.

Top Performers
The three seniors made up a solid part of the leaderboard tonight. Haley Rohwer (Norwood Young America, Minn./Mayer Lutheran HS) had four kills and one block. Greenwaldt had 12 assists and six digs. Burns led the team with seven kills.
