DULUTH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) -- On Wednesday, the St. Scholastica's women's soccer team took a 2-1 loss at Saints Field against the College of Saint Benedict in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) action.
How it Happened
In the first half of the game, St. Scholastica and St. Ben's put up a tough battle to keep it at a scoreless half.
In the second half, the action started to pick up pretty rapidly 10 minutes in. In the 54th minute of the game the Bennies (9-3-3, 7-1-2 MIAC) scored their first goal, taking the lead off a free kick. Shortly after, in the 57th minute of the game, St. Ben's scored their second goal.
CSS was able to put up one goal in the 63rd minute by
Morgan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's HS), to cut the deficit to one goal.
McKenzie Nelson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) had the assist.
Kaiya Quam (Oakdale, Minn./Mounds View HS) then struck the crossbar in the 78
th minute as the Saints were unable to make a full comeback and the final of the game was 2-1.
Goalkeeper
Taelynn Gittins (Hugo, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) had a total of 10 saves on the night.
The goals for St. Ben's were scored by Ella Young and Alli Voss.

CSS (3-10-4, 3-5-2 MIAC) will be at Saint Mary's University on Friday for its last regular season game. Game time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The Saints need to win along with losses from Macalester College, Carleton College and St. Olaf College this weekend to make the MIAC Tournament.
