csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team got a pair of first half goals and that held up as they handed Saint Mary's University its first home loss of the season by a 2-1 final Friday evening in the regular season finale.
How It Happened
The Saints took a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute when
Alexa Ickert (Minnetrista, Minn./Waconia HS) recorded her first goal of the season. CSS extended its lead to 2-0 with a
Kaiya Quam (Oakdale, Minn./Mounds View HS) goal in the 36
th minute. That was the score at the half.
The Cardinals (13-4-1, 7-3-1 MIAC) cut the margin to 2-1 in the 61
st minute. However, the Saints held Saint Mary's to only one shot on goal the rest of the way to come home 2-1 winners.

Playoff Hopes Determined Tomorrow
The Saints (4-10-4, 4-5-2 MIAC) will now have to wait and see if they can get the sixth-and-final MIAC postseason spot. CSS needs losses from Carleton College, Macalester College and St. Olaf College. Those three teams play three of the four teams in the conference. Stay tuned.
