ST. PAUL, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica football team was unable to overcome a 20-point halftime deficit as it fell in its first Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) road game 34-18 at Hamline University on Saturday.

First Half
St. Scholastica got down early in the game after a Hamline field goal made the score 3-0. After a CSS punt, Jalen Davis (Baytown, Texas/Goose Creek Memorial HS) registered St. Scholastica's first interception of the season. However, the Pipers forced another CSS punt and proceeded to drive down the field and make it 10-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Following a Hamline interception, the Pipers made the score 17-0 on a 19-yard touchdown pass. The Saints drove the ball into Piper territory on the ensuing possession before it stalled. The Pipers would make another field goal as time expired in the first half to make it 20-0.

Second Half
The Saints came back after halftime and turned things around and scored first in the second half. Byron Bishop (Sublimity, Ore./Regis HS) connected with Pete Saint Fleur (Orlando, Fla./Dr. Phillips HS (Shasta College-Calif.)) for a 61-yard touchdown to make it 20-6. Hamline answered the next possession to make it 27-6.

CSS started the fourth quarter by scoring on their first possession of the quarter on a Bishop one-yard run to out the score at 27-12. With less than five minutes remaining, the Saints fumbled deep in their own territory and after a penalty on a successful Hamline field goal attempt prolonged the drive, the Pipers found the end zone one more time to make it 34-12.

However, the Saints were able to drive 75 yards in under two minutes as Bishop connected with Mitchell Adrian (Altoona, Wis./Altoona HS) for a 20-yard score to make the final 34-18.
