DULUTH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica football team hosted Gustavus Adolphus College (4-1, 2-1 MIAC) for a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) game at Malosky Stadium and it was the first time in both schools' history playing each other. The Gusties proved to be too much for the Saints winning by a final of 72-7.
Â
First Half
The Gusties scored on their first four drives of the day taking an early 28-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw much of the same as the Saints had no answer for the Gusties running game. At halftime, CSS trailed Gustavus 48-0.
Â
Second Half
The second half saw the Saints crack the scoreboard for what would be their only score of the day, coming from a 70-yard touchdown pass by
Byron Bishop (Sublimity, Ore./Regis HS) to
Pete Saint Fleur (Orlando, Fla./Dr. Phillips HS (Shasta College-Calif.)). The Gusties controlled the time of possession on the day, almost being on the field for 23 more minutes than the Saints. Gustavus would continue to add on to their lead in the second half, scoring 24 points and coming away with a 72-7 win over the Saints.
