csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica volleyball team swept Bridge Rival University of Wisconsin-Superior in just over an hour on Tuesday night at the Reif Gymnasium.
How it Happened
After trailing early, the Saints scored four straight points to take a 5-3 lead and would not relinquish the lead the rest of the set. A
Madissen Burns (Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer HS) kills gave CSS the opening set 25-18. Burns had a team-high five kills in the first set.
The Saints jumped out to a 13-6 lead in the second set and rolled to a 25-16 set victory. It was Burns again leading the way with four kills.
CSS led 12-9 in the third set, when off the serve of
Alcia Draper (Williams, Minn./Lake of the Woods HS) the team scored eight straight points to take control. A
Haley Rohwer (Norwood Young America, Minn./Mayer Lutheran HS) kill gave the Saints the set win 25-14 and the match.
Top Performers
Burns led the Saints with 11 kills.
Katie Brostrom (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) added 23 assists and Draper added 23 digs.
