MORRIS, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The University of Minnesota Morris shot 62% in the first half, while the Saints were held to 24% for the game as the Cougars downed the Saints 78-36 in Saturday's season opener for both teams.
How It Happened
Sophomore
Eve Turner (Side Lake, Minn./Hibbing HS) got the first basket of the contest to give the Saints the early lead. However, the Cougars scored the next 19 points.
Morgan Anderson (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS (UW-Superior)) added four points in the final two minutes of the first period, but the Saints trailed 26-6 after 10 minutes.
Morris added to its lead in the second quarter, out-scoring CSS 22-9 in the period to lead 48-15 at the break.
First-year guard
Macy Hermanson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) had nine points in the second half for the Saints, but the Cougars ran away with the 78-36 victory.
Top Performers
Anderson led the Saints with nine points and eight rebounds.
Lexus Eagle Chasing and Haley Wollschlager each had 14 points to pace the Cougars
