CoSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT MEN'S TRACK & FIELD/CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS

Ryan Steger (Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) was named to the NCAA Division III Academic All-District Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA); it was announced on Friday.
Steger, who not only competes in cross country in the fall and track & field in the spring, but also nordic skiing during the winter, carries a 4.0 grade-point-average. The Biology and Biochemistry major becomes the third St. Scholastica men's cross country/track & field athlete to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District distinction, joining Jacob Gallagher (2017) and Chris Lawson (2016).
During the fall, Steger scored for the cross country team in all four races he competed in, including a seventh-place finish at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Championship to earn First Team All-UMAC accolades for the second consecutive year.
The last time the Eagan, Minnesota native was on the track, he was competing for a NCAA Championship in the 800m run at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Steger finished ninth at last year's championships and earned All-Region accolades in the 800m run from U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). He was also the conference's 400m and 800m champion at last year's UMAC Outdoor Championships.
Steger is now eligible for the Academic All-America Team ballot, where All-America honorees will be selected in late June.
The All-Academic Teams, which are selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
The teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA participants.
St. Scholastica is included in District 6 and includes NCAA Division III institutions from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan.
