AUBURNDALE, Fla. (
csssaints.com) – Fontbonne University (Mo.) scored in each of the first three innings, including six runs in the third en route to a 9-0 victory over the St. Scholastica baseball team on Saturday as the Saints opened competition down at the RussMatt Invitational.
How It Happened
A St. Scholastica error allowed an unearned run to score for the Griffins (7-7) in the bottom of the first to make it 1-0. A two-out RBI single in the second extended the lead to 2-0. Fontbonne then had four consecutive singles to begin the third inning. That coupled with a bases loaded walk, a passed ball and an error allowed six Griffins to score in the inning to make it 8-0.
CSS held Fontbonne in check until the eighth inning when a third Saints error allowed another unearned run for the Griffins to make the final 9-0.
