SUPERIOR, Wis. (
csssaints.com) – All four goals were scored in the second period Tuesday night as the St. Scholastica women's hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision at the University of Wisconsin-Superior at Wessman Arena.
How it Happened
After a scoreless first period, which saw CSS goaltender
Lori Huseby (Babbitt, Minn./Northeast Range HS) stop 17 Yellowjacket shots, Superior (13-5-1) broke through seven minutes into the second period to make it 1-0. The Yellowjackets added another three minutes later to extend the lead to 2-0.
The Saints cut the deficit in half with less than four minutes remaining in the second period with a
Rachel Anderson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) backhanded goal.
Lily Holtz (Austin, Minn./Austin HS) was credited with the assist. Unfortunately, the Yellowjackets made the margin two goals once again a couple minutes later to make it 3-1 after two periods.
The third period would see just a total of eight shots on goal as UWS held off CSS for the 3-1 victory.
